N64 Netplay Tutorial

For Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, Mario 64 Multiplayer or StarFox64 online, use the following guide for Project 64K. To play any other N64 games online, use the Mupen++ Setup Guide.

N64 Netplay Guide

  • Download Project64k, the N64 emulator used for SSB, Mario Kart and Star Fox 64 netplay.
  • Extract the file somewhere on your computer.
  • Create a “roms” folder inside the root directory and put your ROMs (game files) in it.
  • Launch Project64k.
  • Click on “Option” and “Configure Controller Plugin…” to configure your controller or keyboard (plug your controller before you start Project64k).
  • Set your inputs and click on “OK” when you’re done.
  • Click on “File” and on “Start Kaillera…”.
  • Click on “EmuLinker Servers List” and wait for all servers to ping.
  • Select any server with a low ping and click on “Connect“.
